33 more Filipinos abroad contract Covid-19 — DFA

MANILA, Philippines —Thirty-three additional Filipinos abroad were sickened with new coronavirus disease (Covid-19), increasing the total tally of Covid-19-infected Filipinos living in other countries to 13,938.

As of 6 p.m., the Department of Foreign Affairs also abroad who are still undertaking treatment in hospitals.

DFA also reported 26 new recoveries and five more fatalities among Filipinos in other countries.  This raised the total count of Covid-19 recoveries and deaths to 8,919 and 950, respectively.

The Middle East and Africa have the highest number of cases recorded among Filipinos abroad, with 7,881 virus infections, including 4,754 recoveries and 606 deaths.

According to John Hopkins University’s virus tracker, 101 million people worldwide were infected with severe respiratory disease. Of the number, 2.1 million are deaths while 56 million are recoveries.
