Intruder caught on NAIA tarmac

MANILA, Philippines—Airport police apprehended a man who sneaked into the ramp area of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport’s (Naia) Terminal 1 and was found running toward an aircraft.

The Media Affairs Division of the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) said the man, who identified himself as Don Alfredo Gutierrez, 25, was caught on the ramp area by airport personnel at 7:20 a.m. on Friday.

In a , the MIAA said it is investigating how the man managed to get in the tarmac of Terminal 1.

“He is now being interrogated by the terminal security officers,” said the MIAA in a statement.

The MIAA said the man, who appeared to be deranged, was giving investigators incoherent answers and they were having a hard time obtaining information from him.

It is not clear as of 10 a.m. how the man managed to gain entry to the ramp, a highly restricted area.
