DOE to distribute 12,000 fuel subsidy cards in Cebu
THE Department of Energy in Central Visayas (DOE-7) is set to distribute at least 12,000 Pantawid Pasada cards to subsidize fuel public utility jeepneys in Cebu.
DOE- 7 Regional Director Antonio Labios said they are still completing the mechanisms on how the “Pantawid Pasada Card” will be implemented in Cebu.
“We still have to set the schedule for the distribution in Cebu,” Labios said, adding that they are waiting for distribution of cards in Manila to be completed.
However, he assured that drivers would receive the cards not later than November. Three thousand cards have been distributed in Manila daily since Monday.
Engr. Rey Malesa, DOE-7 Science Research Specialist said the Pantawid Pasada Cards has a P1,050 load consumable within five months. It will be distibuted by the Land Transportation Office (LTO) through the jeepney operators within Metro Cebu.
Drivers can only avail of the card in gas stations with linkage to the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) where the amount for the subsidy is deposited.
Article continues after this advertisementMalesa said that they still have to identify the gas stations in Cebu where the cards can be availed of and will instruct these to put up signages so that they could be easily identified by the drivers.
He said the DOE has already met with the fuel distributors and instructed them to identify the plate number and franchise number of the vehicles which will be imprinted on the card.
