PAL and PIA partner in benefit for disadvantaged school kids
SAN FRANCISCO—A luncheon fashion-show fundraiser for disadvantaged children will be held on Sunday, Nov. 17, at Hyatt Embarcadero, sponsored by Philippine International Aid (PIA) and Philippine Airlines.
“Holiday Haute Couture XII” features the work of Barge Ramos, who is best known for his barong designs using indigenous fabrics, such as jusi and piña, with modern styling. His women’s clothing line also features ethnic weaves and designs. The event also features a Christmas bazaar and auction.
Emcees include veteran journalists Lloyd LaCuesta and Diane Dwyer. Broadway actress Joan Almedilla, who appeared as Kim in “Miss Saigon” and Fantine in “Les Miserables,” will provide musical entertainment.
Philippine Airlines is flying in Ramos and choreographer Ogee Atos, while Galleria Park Hotel is providing the accommodations. The holiday fashion show is PIA’s annual fundraiser.
A volunteer organization, PIA is in its 27th year of providing educational assistance to disadvantaged Filipino youths in the Philippines and in the San Francisco Bay Area.
