Astig and Alagad help Filipinos in Saudi Arabia

Representative of Astig and Alagad in Saudi Arabia donated food and baby diapers to stranded Filipino workers in Jeddah recently.

Don’t be turned off by their tough-sounding gang-like names. Astig is the name of Batch 27 of a Computer Literacy Program, while Alagad refers to members of Batch 28. The overseas Pinoys had become close friends during their Photoshop classes so they continued after graduation as civic organizations. Batch 27 got together at the Kingdom’s Kalamay Restaurant and formally elected Roberto S. Perez Jr. and Mauricia T. Garcia as chairman and vice chairman, respectively, among other officers of a formally organized Astig Council.

Alagad, which actually means “Alam Agad (quick to learn), was likewise turned into a formal civic group.

The two groups of computer literacy classmates intend to extend assistance to their less fortunate kababayan in the Middle East Kingdom. Arab News Pinoy Xtra, Riyadh
