Labor Day hottest so far, Pagasa says

CEBU and the rest of the country experienced the hottest day so far this year at 33.2 degrees Celsius at 1:45 p.m. on Labor Day last Monday, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services administration (Pag-asa) said.

“May is the hottest month of the year, so we could expect a hotter days within this month,” Pagasa Mactan chief Oscar Tabada told Cebu Daily News in an interview.

He said the average temperature for summer is at 28 degrees Celsius. Humidity is expected to lower at the onset of the rainy season, Tabada said.

He said the hottest temperature recorded in Cebu in the past 36 years was on May 31 last year, when it reached 37 degrees Celsius. He said the summer will get warmer due to the effects of global warming.
