MANILA, Philippines鈥擨nvestigators from Taiwan have seen the coast guard video of the May 9 incident when a Taiwanese fisherman was killed in northern Philippines.
However, the investigators refused to give details about the video which they watched for about two hours, according to lawyer Art Abiera of the Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO).
鈥淭he investigation is still on-going. We cannot comment. [But] it [the video] is very helpful,鈥澛犅燗ndrew Lin, representative of the Taiwanese Economic Cultural Office (TECO) told reporters Tuesday.
The investigators will proceed to examine the vessel used by the Philippine Coast Guard..
鈥淭oday, [Tuesday] we will examine the vessel accompanied by the NBI [National Bureau of Investigation]鈥e will try to finish it as soon as possible,鈥�
Lin said the NBI and the PCG would assist them in inspecting the vessel.
Taiwan and the Philippines are conducting a parallel investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the Taiwanese fisherman鈥檚 death.
An eight-man team from the National Bureau of Investigation is also in Taiwan examining the fishing vessel and will interview its crew.
