Singer to Perform Songs about Mindanao

WAIPAHU, Hawaii–Acclaimed singer-songwriter Barclay Martin is coming to the Filipino Community Center (FilCom) on Saturday, May 18 at 2:00pm to share a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the making of “Rise and Dream,” an award-winning documentary film shot in the Philippines and produced by the Christian Foundation for Children and Aging.

Martin will also give a short performance of he wrote for the soundtrack of the film, inspired by his experiences in the Philippines. The Filipino Community Center is at 94-428 Mokuola St., Waipahu. Rise and Dream” follows the lives of 13 young people in Zamboanga as they accept a challenge to learn their traditional instruments and perform in the concert of a lifetime.
