MANILA, Philippines— Philippine police say a criminal complaint has been filed against the Filipino wife of a suspected Malaysian terrorist, who was killed by snipers while threatening to detonate a powerful bomb.

Police Senior Superintendent Ronald de la Rosa said on Sunday that a complaint for illegal possession of explosives has been filed by authorities before a prosecutor’s office against Anabelle Nieva Lee. It alleges she helped carry a backpack with a mortar bomb that her Malaysian husband, Mohammad Noor Fikrie Bin Abd Kahar, threatened to set off Dec. 14 in the port city of Davao.

The prosecutor will now decide if a formal charge will be laid. De la Rosa says police snipers killed Fikrie before he could detonate the bomb near a park.
