Filipino kills wife over pending divorce

BRENTWOOD—Police believe a Filipino man fatally shot his wife before turning the gun on himself because of their pending divorce.

Investigators said 47-year-old Christoper Lo killed his wife, Joyce, in their Brentwood City home on Wednesday, March 21.

Their 13-year-old daughter found the bodies and called police.

Joyce Lo had recently filed for divorce, according to Brentwood city detective Sgt. Tim Herbert.

“We believe their relationship was estranged and he couldn’t handle the breakup,” Herbert said to the Contra Costa Times. “He is the only suspect in the case.”

Herbert said a handgun was found next to Christopher Lo. Autopsy reports found Joyce Lo was shot multiple times while Christopher had a single gunshot wound to the head.

Joyce Lo’s family, who is from Bacolod, Philippines, is in the process of bringing her body back to the Philippines, according to an ABS-CBN report.
