11 Chinese nationals arrested for illegal mining in Camarines Norte

MANILA, Philippines — Eleven Chinese nationals were arrested by authorities in Camarines Norte on Sunday over their alleged involvement in illegal construction of a mineral processing plant, the Presidential Anti Organized Crime Commission said.

The joint intelligence operation was carried out by the Bureau of Immigration, PAOCC, Armed Forces of the Philippines, and the Philippine National Police at the Oco Mineral Processing Plant in Brgy Tugos, Paracale, Camarines Norte, past 8 a.m.

The Chinese nationals were identified as Liu Wei Xi, Chen Gui Hua, Chang Si Ci, Chen Chan Xia, Liu Wei Mang, Yu Yun Lai, Zhen Zi Yu, Li Chun, Jiu Zhong Ren, Lou Peng, and Sheng Yuan Fan. They will be investigated by the PAOCC and BI.

Immigration and illegal mining charges will be filed against the Chinese nationals, the PAOCC said.

“PAOCC, BI, and our AFP partners are going all out to neutralize all criminal activities perpetuated by foreign nationals. This recent raid is against an illegal mining operation in Paracale, Camarines Norte,” it said.
