Filipinos in South Korea told to seek protection vs heat wave

MANILA, Philippines — Filipinos in South Korea were advised to observe safety precautions as the country grapples with the summer heat wave.

The Philippine embassy in Seoul, in an advisory on Sunday, said the safety precautions would help prevent health-related illnesses and exhaustion.

“A heatwave is an extended period of hot weather relative to the expected conditions of the area at that time of year, which may be accompanied by high humidity,” the advisory reads.

International news reports citing the Korean Interior Ministry said that the nationwide heat wave has affected more than a thousand people with health-related illnesses.

The weather conditions have also caused the death of over 257,000 livestock.
