Two months after the beating death of a popular Filipino-American hairdresser, Seattle police have interviewed three “persons of interest” but have not made any arrests in the case.

According to several news reports in Seattle, police have identified the three young African American men who were caught by surveillance cameras around the scene of the crime after the alleged beating death of Danny Vega in late November.

Vega, a 58-year-old salon owner, was walking home when three young men came up from behind and began beating him. He was knocked out for 30 to 45 minutes before being transported to the hospital. He told his family about the vicious assault moments before he fell into a coma. Vega died a few days after the beating.

Several news reports have not named the suspects because they have not been formally charged. One publication described the three young men police detained as “felons with a history of violent robberies.”

FEATURED STORIES

“The three men, all in their early 20s, have all previously been arrested for robbery, and at least two of them are ‘South End Folk gang members,’” according to Seattle Police Department records gathered by Publicola.

The Seattle PI reported one of the men interrogated “did not deny the incident, just says he can’t remember.”
