First Lady back from 3-day UAE visit

MANILA, Philippines — First Lady Liza Marcos on Sunday shared on social media her trip to the United Arab Emirates, where she is on a supposed three-day working visit to explore areas of cooperation between the Philippines and the UAE.

In an instagram post, Mrs. Marcos said the Philippine delegation and the UAE government tackled areas where they could enhance cooperation, such as culture, arts and heritage.

“Her Highness Sheikha Salama bint Hamdan Al Nahyan, wife of His Highness the UAE President, welcomed (the first lady) who is on a working visit to the UAE,” the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) said in a post.

She said the two sides “explored ways to enrich the cultural and artistic landscape in both nations, with particular focus on early childhood development and investment in human capital.

“The (first lady) commended the UAE’s broad cultural and developmental progress, expressing her admiration for Emirati women, who have successfully become key partners in the country’s development and nation-building process,” the PCO said.

Earlier this month, the first couple hosted UAE foreign minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan in the latter’s courtesy call in Malacañang.

The UAE official conveyed to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. his country’s willingness to increase its investments in the Philippines amid the “growing relationship” between the two countries.

During her work visit, the first lady met with executives of the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corp. and Emirates Airline and Group.

She also met with the Filipino community in UAE at the Kempinski Central Avenue in Dubai.
