In a statement on Sunday, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said the visit aims “to further enhance cooperation and collaboration” of New Zealand and the Philippines “across various fields.”

The agency added that Peters and DFA chief Enrique Manalo will discuss how both countries can strengthen bilateral relations and explore “opportunities to deepen existing cooperation on defense, economy, renewable energy, and people-to-people linkages,” among others.

Manalo and Peters will likewise hold a joint press conference and the signing ceremony for the agreement between the Anti-Red Tape Authority of the Philippines and the New Zealand Trade Enterprise on Ease of Doing Business.

“The visit is particularly significant as both countries anticipate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in July 2026,” the DFA said.

“It reaffirms the commitment of the Philippines and New Zealand to work closely together in advancing mutual interests and promoting peace, stability, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region,” it added.
