Japan earthquake: No Filipino killed, injured – DMW

MANILA, Philippines—The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), citing initial data from its migrant workers office (MWO) in Japan, said no Filipino was reported injured following an earthquake that jolted the Noto Peninsula early Monday morning.

“MWO-Osaka is working closely with Filipino communities and Japanese authorities to ascertain the safety and status of our overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in the region,” said DMW in an advisory.

“MWO-Osaka reports that there are no Filipinos injured in an earthquake that rocked the Noto Peninsula earlier this morning,” it added.

The Japan Meteorological Agency said the magnitude of 5.9 earthquake struck around 5:40 a.m. (Manila time) and was traced off the Noto Peninsula, located in the northern part of Ishikawa Prefecture in Honshu, Japan’s main island.
