5 Filipinos on turbulence-hit flight admitted in Bangkok hospital

MANILA, Philippines—The five Filipinos who were affected by severe turbulence while on a Singapore Airlines flight are now admitted to a hospital in Bangkok, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said on Wednesday.
“[O]n the five Filipinos affected in the SQ Flight 321, we received information from [the Philippine embassy in Bangkok] that they are still in a hospital in Bangkok,” Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Teresita Daza told reporters in a text message.

“Our Embassy is in touch with them,” she added.
Citing privacy concerns, Daza did not further elaborate on the situation of the five Filipinos. No other information was provided regarding their identities.

Article continues after this advertisementIn a separate message to reporters, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said they have yet to determine whether or not the five individuals are Overseas Filipino Workers.
According to DMW, the Singapore-bound flight took off from London and encountered what airline officials described as “sudden extreme turbulence” 10 hours into its flight, forcing an emergency landing in Thailand.
