Bedridden Filipina, 61, sent home from Kuwait
MANILA, Philippines— The Philippine Embassy in Kuwait has repatriated a bedriddent 61-year-old Filipina.
The Filipina, who left Kuwait Tuesday, arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport accompanied by a volunteer nurse, the Department of Foreign Affairs said.
She was brought to her hometown in Camarines Sur.
Her condition was reported to the embassy by a friend last April.
“According to her friend, the Filipina has been in Kuwait for almost 20 years. She has been without a valid residence visa for a long time,” the DFA said in a statement.
With her body alreay half-paralyzed, she was unable to walk and taken to a Kuwaiti hospital. She was diagnosed with hyperlipidaemia as a result of a stroke.
Article continues after this advertisement“The embassy attended to the OFW’s medical needs as well as negotiated and made strong representations with the Kuwait government for her immediate repatriation,” the DFA said.
The embassy also paid for her and her nurse’s plane fares.
