MANILA, Philippines 鈥� The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said its migrant workers offices (MWOs) in Taiwan were placed on high alert after the island was struck by twin 5.9 quakes late Monday.
In advisory, DMW the quakes occurred 鈥渨ithin minutes of each other.鈥�
Taiwan鈥檚 Central Weather Administration reported the first quake at 5:45 p.m. while the second followed seven minutes later at 5:52 p.m.

鈥淭here are no immediate reports of injuries among overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), but MWOs in Taipei, Taichung, and Kaohsiung are reaching out to Filipino leaders, communities, employers, and trade associations to ascertain the status of OFWs,鈥� said DMW.
The agency said its migrant workers offices, together with the Overseas Workers鈥� Welfare Administration and the Manila Economic and Cultural Office are continuously monitoring the situation.
