BI dispatches more personnel as number of Holy Week travelers surges

MANILA, Philippines 鈥斅 The Bureau of Immigration (BI) deployed more personnel to airports as the Holy Week season approaches, said agency鈥檚 deputy spokesperson Melvin Mabulac on Monday.

Mabulac said the number of international passengers is beginning to increase in airports, going from an average of 42,900 to 47,500 for March.

鈥淜aya nga po, ang ginawa po ng ating opisina, nagdagdag tayo ng around 65 augmentation na personnel,鈥 said Mabulac on the Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon briefing.

(That is why what we are doing in our office, we added 65 augmentation personnel.)

鈥淪ila po ay tutulong sa ating mga paliparan to ensure na ang proseso sa immigration ay tuluy-tuloy, considering na dumarami po iyong ating travelers ngayon,鈥 he added.

(They are helping in airports to ensure that the process of immigration is continuous, considering the volume of travelers today.)

Given the influx of passengers for the Holy Week, the BI reminded international travelers about preparing their eTravel.

Mabulac said passengers should register three days prior to their departure date.

The BI officials also reminded travelers to be cautious of scams.
