CICC asks Japan gov’t to investigate hoax bomb threats

MANILA, Philippines — The Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) is working with the government of Japan to investigate the series of bomb hoaxes in different government agencies, said the Palace on Tuesday.

The CICC, an attached agency of the Department of Information and Communications Technology, said that a thorough investigation is taking place after several areas received a bomb threat from Japan.

“Efforts are now on the way to request the Japanese government to investigate thoroughly and identify the sender,” said the CICC through a Palace statement.

Agencies that received a bomb threat on Monday include the Department of Education, the local government of Iba, Zambales, and the .

According to the CICC, the bomb threats originated from Japan. It also targeted several agencies in South Korea.

“There is no cause for alarm as this sender and email has been tagged as hoax,” the CICC said.
