MANILA, Philippines 鈥� The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Thursday said Filipino seafarers held hostage by Houthi rebels in the Red Sea are in good condition and 鈥渨ill eventually be released.鈥�
DFA Spokesperson Teresita Daza has assured the public that the government is doing everything possible to obtain freedom for the 17 Filipino seafarers.
鈥淕overnment sources say that the hostages are in good condition and will eventually be released. Efforts are ongoing for this to happen as soon as possible,鈥� Daza told reporters in a text message.
Daza鈥檚 statement was issued after President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. announced , United Arab Emirates.

Marcos cited 鈥渋mportant developments鈥� in the hostage situation involving the Filipino seafarers for his decision to call off his trip to Dubai. The DFA, however, has yet to give further details regarding such developments.
On November 22, the DFA confirmed that 17 Filipinos aboard the Galaxy Leader cargo ship were among the people held hostage by the Houthi armed group in the Red Sea.
