DFA monitoring situations in Sudan, Bahrain

MANILA, Philippines- The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has added South Sudan in Africa and Bahrain in the Middle East to its list of countries being monitored.

Radyo Inquirer 990AM on Thursday quoted Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert del Rosario as saying that they had received information about another ethnic war in South Sudan.

In Bahrain, the DFA has also monitored widespread protests by militant groups against the government.

There are between 4,000 and 5,000 Filipino workers (OFWs) in Bahrain, the report said.

The DFA had already ordered a mandatory repatriation of OFWs in Syria after it raised the crisis alert level from three to four last Dec. 22.

Nationwide protests are ongoing in the country as people participated in civil resistance movements. The people are calling for an end to the almost five decades of dictatorship rule.
