DFA seeks details on OFW Marjorette Garcia’s slay from Saudi police

MANILA, Philippines — Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) is asking from law enforcers in Saudi Arabia details on the killing of Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) Marjiorette Garcia.
“We need to be the ones on top of the coordination with the local law enforcement,” DFA Assistant Secretary for Migrant Workers Paul Cortes said in a phone interview with 蜜桃工作室 on Tuesday.
On the matter of helping the family, the department has turned over its ‘Assistance to Nationals’ functions to Department of Migrant Workers (DMW).
“[H]er family has also been contacted by the DMW through the Migrant Workers office in Al Khobar,” Cortes said.
“Once the investigation is done and over with, then we prepare the documentation for Marjorette’s remains to be shipped back home to the Philippines,” he added.

Police do not have details on the circumstances and motive behind Garcia’s killing as of this posting.
DMW confirmed the death of Garcia on Monday.
It extended its condolences to the family of the slain OFW.
