Bongbong Marcos back in PH after Indonesia, Singapore visits

MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. is now back home in the Philippines after his first round of state visits to neighboring Indonesia and Singapore.

The plane carrying Marcos and his delegation landed on Wednesday night, at 10:25 p.m., according to the Office of the Press Secretary (OPS).

He was met by Vice President Sara Duterte, whom he left as the country’s caretaker while he was away; Executive Secretary Vic Rodriguez, who was forced to attend a Senate inquiry on the sugar importation fiasco; and Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Bartolome Vicente Bacarro.

Also among the welcoming party were Philippine Air Force Vice Commanding General Lt. Gen. Romeo Browner Jr.; Philippine Navy Vice Commander Rear Adm. Caesar Bernard Valencia; Pasay Rep. Antonio Calixto, and Pasay City Mayor Imelda Calixto-Rubiano.

Marcos left the country on Sunday, Sept. 4 to go to Indonesia where he had a three-day state visit.

He then flew to Singapore on Tuesday, Sept. 6 for a two-day visit.

Marcos met Indonesian President Joko Widodo and Singaporean President Halimah Yacob during his trips to Jakarta and Singapore, along with other key state officials of both countries.

He also met with the Filipino community in both countries.
