3 countries pledge to donate COVID-19 vaccines to PH — Galvez

At least three countries have so far pledged to donate COVID-19 vaccines to the Philippines, vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. said Monday.

MANILA, Philippines — At least three countries have so far pledged to donate COVID-19 vaccines to the Philippines to amp up immunization against the severe respiratory illness, National Task Force against COVID-19 chief implementer and vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. said Monday.

He said these countries, which he did not name, will donate 1.5 million doses of US-made COVID-19 vaccine Pfizer and one million doses of AstraZeneca vaccines.

“Madaming magdo-donate na mga bansa. Nagsabi na ang tatlong bansa na magdo-donate sila ng 1.5 million doses na Pfizer at saka one million na AstraZeneca,” he said in a vaccination event in San Mateo Rizal.

He added that another country is also eyeing to donate three million COVID-19 vaccine doses, but he did not specify the brand.

Galvez said these donations were the fruit of the Philippines’ good relationship with other countries.

The Philippines have so far received vaccine donations from several countries including China, Japan, and the United States.

The of COVID-19 vaccines, with 13 million administered as second doses, meaning 13 million individuals are so far fully vaccinated against the severe respiratory illness.

As of August 21, the country has a total cumulative vaccine supply of 45 million doses.
