Duterte to join Nikkei’s Future of Asia confab on post-pandemic recovery
President Rodrigo Duterte will be at Nikkei’s Future of Asia conference this Friday.
MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte will join other world leaders at the Nikkei-hosted Future of Asia conference on Friday, May 21.
The President is expected to advance the Philippines’ position on the COVID-19 pandemic and what must be done to recover from this health crisis, a Palace statement on Thursday said.
This is in line with the theme for this year’s conference, “Shaping the Post-COVID Era: Asia’s Role in the Global Recovery.”
Duterte will be joining leaders from Japan, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam and heads of international organizations.
His participation in the conference on Friday marks his second time to address the Nikkei-hosted event.

The annual conference is organized by Nikkei, said to be the largest economic newspaper in Japan and the largest newsgroup in Asia.
