Qatar wants to hire Pinoy health workers

/ 04:48 AM December 22, 2020

MANILA, Philippines — Qatar is seeking to hire Filipino workers in the health-care and services sector as the Arab state rolls out COVID-19 vaccines for its citizens and migrant workers starting next week.

“We have received a request today for more health-care workers for government and private hospitals. Recently, we received a couple of job orders. There’s a big demand,” Philippine labor attaché David Dicang told reporters by videoconference on Monday.

He said there was also a demand for Filipino workers in the services sector such as waitresses and maintenance workers.

“Now health-care workers and services sector workers are in demand. We’re hoping that in the next few months [the demand for Filipino workers] will reach thousands like before [the pandemic],” Dicang said. —Dona Z. Pazzibugan
