MANILA, Philippines—Are the United States and China heading for a new Cold War? Recent events have pushed US-China relations to their lowest point in so many years. What would be its impact on the Philippines? How should Manila advance its interests amid deteriorating US-China ties?

The University of the Philippines’ International Development and Security Cooperation (IDSC), WR Numero Research and Analyzing War have organized an online webinar on Sept. 25 (Manila time) to discuss these issues.

The event, called “Inquiry on Philippine Alignment in US-China Rivalry: Is there a New Cold War?”, will feature Philippine Sen. Risa Hontiveros and Southeast Asia expert Murray Hilbert, author of “Under Beijing’s Shadow: Southeast Asia’s China Challenge”, which explores the impact of China’s growing influence on countries in the region.
