3 more Filipinos abroad contract COVID-19; no new deaths – DFA

MANILA, Philippines — Three more overseas Filipinos have contracted the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) but no new fatalities have been reported, according to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).

The DFA said the total number of COVID-19 cases among Filipinos abroad is now at 8,872, with three new infections recorded in Europe and the Middle East.

Meanwhile, 2,977 are still undergoing treatment while 5,277 have already recovered from the disease. The death toll remains at 618.

In the Philippines, health officials have so far confirmed. Of the number, 1,603 patients have died while 20,459 have recovered.

Globally, over 12.7 million individuals have so far been infected by the new coronavirus, which originated from Wuhan City in China’s Hubei province late last year. More than 566,000 have died from the disease across the world.
