5,300 Filipinos stranded in Sabah to be sent home starting June 30 — Palace

MANILA, Philippines — About 5,300 Filipino immigrants stranded in Sabah will be repatriated starting the end of the month, Malacañang announced Tuesday.

According to Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, an inter-agency task force has already been created to oversee the repatriation of the Filipinos in Sandakan, Sabah.

The Department of Health, Department of Social Welfare and Development, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, and the Bureau of Quarantine will serve as the lead agencies of the task force.

Roque said the repatriation will be composed of 400 persons per sortie with intervals of 15 days.

Zamboanga City will serve as the processing area for the repatriates, he added.
