DFA reports 94 new COVID-19 cases among Filipinos abroad; 34 more die
MANILA, Philippines — There are 94 more Filipinos abroad who have contracted COVID-19 while 34 more died of the viral illness, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reported Monday.

With 94 new confirmed cases reported today by our Foreign Service Posts mostly in the Americas, the total number COVID-19 infection involving Filipinos abroad breached the 2,600 mark. [1/3]

The new cases, most of which were recorded in the Americas, bring the total coronavirus infection involving Filipinos abroad to 2,617.
All the new deaths were recorded in the Middle East, the DFA noted, adding that the total death count now stands at 328.
Meanwhile, 10 more Filipinos abroad have survived the disease, bringing total recoveries to 889.
At least 1,400 overseas Filipinos are still receiving treatment for COVID-19, the DFA said.
Article continues after this advertisementMajority of the cases among Filipinos abroad came from Europe, with 791 cases, followed by the Middle East/ Africa with 735, then by the Americas — which has the highest death toll at 150 out of 632 cases — and the Asia Pacific region (459).
To date, over 5.4 million people worldwide have been infected by the virus that originated from Hubei, China.
