“Today, the total number of COVID-19 cases among Filipinos abroad breached the 2,100 marks with 218 new confirmed cases and 22 new deaths, mostly recorded in the Middle East,” DFA said.

“These sudden increases compared to yesterday’s figures are due to limitations on the release of daily verified reports on foreign nationals afflicted with COVID-19 in most countries in the said region,” it added.

Of the confirmed cases, 373 are in 12 countries in the Asia Pacific Region; 616 are in 12 countries in the Middle East and Africa regions; 647 are in 16 countries in Europe; and 504 are in six countries in the Americas.

“Meanwhile, despite the decrease in the daily rate of recoveries reported by the DFA through its Foreign Service Posts, latest figures show that the total number of Filipinos who recovered from COVID-19 at 574 remains more than twice than the total fatalities and comprises about 27% of the total confirmed cases,” DFA said.
