51 Filipinos in Kuwait infected with COVID-19

MANILA, Philippines — There are at least 51 Filipinos in Kuwait who have contracted the novel coronavirus, Philippine Charge d’ Affaires to Kuwait Charleson Hermosura said Thursday.

Of the number, two patients have passed away, Hermosura said during the Laging Handa briefing.

“As of yesterday, meron na po tayong confirmed 51 Filipinos in Kuwait who are confirmed positive for COVID-19. Unfortunately, may dalawa na pong namatay because of the disease,” he said.

Kuwait is home to over 187,000 Filipino workers based on 2015 data from the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).

To date, there are reportedly over 3,700 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Kuwait with at least 24 deaths.
