DFA says Filipinos abroad who tested positive for COVID-19 climb to 1,114

MANILA, Philippines — Thirty new cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) among Filipinos abroad have been recorded along with six new fatalities, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Wednesday.

With the newly reported cases, DFA figures showed that the total number of Filipinos abroad who tested positive for the new coronavirus climbed to 1,114.

Of these cases, 660 are still undergoing treatment while 295 Filipino patients have already been discharged from hospitals or have recovered.

“Based on the updated figures, the rate of new recoveries today at 9.67% is higher than the rate of new confirmed cases and new deaths at 2.77% and 3.92%, respectively,” the DFA said.

There are 159 deaths reported so far.

“With the shared global goal of ‘flattening the curve’ of COVID-19 pandemic, the DFA personnel in our foreign service posts continue to partner with local health authorities and agencies in ensuring proper implementation of preventive measures and restrictions, and commit to attending to the needs of our people affected by this pandemic,” the department added.
