MANILA, Philippines — A total of 248 Filipino cruise ship workers have returned home from the Unites States Friday morning, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Friday.

“On its third day of repatriations this week, the DFA welcomed 248 crew members of MSC Divina who were repatriated from Miami, USA,” the DFA said in a statement.

MSC Divina’s manning agency chartered the flight that brought the repatriates from the said non-COVID-19 infected ship home. The plane landed at the Ninoy Aquino International Aiport (NAIA) Terminal 1.

The Bureau of Quarantine performed the mandatory medical inspection before the repatriated seafarers were allowed to disembark and head to a quarantine facility, the DFA noted.

“The 248 seafarers form the first batch of repatriates scheduled to arrive today,” the DFA said.

“The DFA and its partner agencies commit to a whole-of-government approach in providing assistance to overseas Filipinos amidst the COVID-19 pandemic,” it added.
