MANILA, Philippines — Hong Kong would no longer allow the entry of non-residents for two weeks, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said on Tuesday.

The DFA advised travelers “to check if their inbound or outbound flights from Philippine airports will be affected by this new restriction, and adjust travel plans accordingly.”

It wasn’t clear from the advisory why Hong Kong is implementing the restriction.

The temporary ban on the entry to Hong Kong began on Tuesday wherein non-residents “will not be allowed into Hong Kong, transit passengers included, for a two-week period,” the DFA noted in an advisory.

The department then reminded Filipinos to remain vigilant and to be accurately informed as imposition or adjustment of travel restrictions of other countries or territories may affect Filipino travelers.
