Kuwait won鈥檛 require medical clearance from OFWs
The Philippine Embassy in Kuwait on Friday said the Kuwait government had withdrawn a regulation that required foreign workers from countries with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases, including the Philippines, to present medical proof that they are clear of the virus before they could work in the emirate.
The embassy said the Kuwaiti government would no longer implement Circular No. 25 issued on March 3 that required Kuwait-bound Filipinos to present medical examination certificates as proof they are free of COVID-19.
The Department of Labor and Employment had threatened to scale down the deployment of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) to the emirate unless the circular was lifted. —REPORTS FROM JEROME ANING AND JOVIC YEE
