MANILA, Philippines 鈥� The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) warned job seekers in China against employment offers to work as household service workers and private tutors in that country.
鈥淭he Department of Foreign Affairs reiterates its notice to prospective job seekers in China that it is still irregular for Filipinos to work as household service workers and private tutors in mainland China,鈥� the DFA said in a statement late Friday.
The DFA issued this reminder after the Philippine Consulate General in Xiamen and other foreign service offices in China recorded several cases of overstaying and/or irregular employment of Filipinos as household service workers or tutors from January to June this year.
Most of these cases, the DFA noted, were of Filipinos illegally crossing to China to work as household workers.
鈥淭he Consulate General also reminds Filipinos in China to follow Chinese immigration rules and avoid staying beyond what is allowed in their visas,鈥� the DFA said.
It also advised Filipinos seeking a job overseas 鈥渢o first check the veracity of job offers鈥� with the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration.
