PH embassy in US done mailing out ballots to Filipino voters

MANILA, Philippines—The Philippine Embassy in the United States announced that it has already finished mailing all ballot packets to registered Filipinos in the US for the holding of the overseas absentee voting.

“Happy to announce that all ballot packets have been mailed out to registered voters under our jurisdiction,” the embassy said in a tweet Thursday.

“We urge our voters to exercise their right to vote and help shape our country’s future,” it added.

Registered voters abroad may go to their respective Philippine embassy or consulate to cast their vote.

Filipinos overseas can also opt to have their ballots mailed to their addresses and mail the accomplished ones back to their diplomatic office.

Overseas absentee voting started on April 13, and will end on May 13.

Based on data from Commission on Elections (Comelec), there are at least 1.8 million registered overseas Filipino voters, majority of them are based in the Middle East and African regions.

There are 345,415 registered voters in North and Latin America.

Earlier, the Comelec approved the release of additional funds for the postage fees of official ballots pending delivery to Filipinos abroad. /jpv
