MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reported on Friday that no Filipinos were infected by the Ebola virus during the recent outbreak of the disease in the Democratic Republic in Congo.

Philippine Ambassador to Nairobi Francis Maynard Maleon told DFA that the Embassy is monitoring the situation in Congo where there are 142 members of the Filipino community.

Maleon said the disease has spread to Butembo with more than 600 cases of Ebola reported.

He added that the World Health Organization is coordinating with government health officials to contain the outbreak. /ee
