Filipina stabbed dead in Japan — DFA

A 48-year-old Filipina was killed after being stabbed in Japan on Thursday evening, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has reported.

According to the Philippine Embassy in Tokyo, the unidentified victim “succumbed to her injuries” at a hospital in Hamamatsu, Japan on Friday.

The DFA did not release additional information on the incident. The identity of the suspect was also not given.

Philippine Ambassador to Japan Jose Laurel V assured the victim’s family that they will ensure “justice will be served.”

Laurel added that the suspect is now under custody by the Japanese police.

Foreign Affairs Secretary Teddy Locsin Jr. confirmed that the suspect is now under custody by authorities in Japan.

“The suspect is now in the inexorable perfect Japanese criminal justice system and may God have mercy on his soul because his body is now in the custody of the most efficient state in the world along with Singapore,” Locsin posted in Twitter on Saturday.  /muf
