DFA starts probe into death of Filipina worker in Saudi

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) is now investigating the cause of death of a Filipina household worker who died in Saudi Arabia on Friday.

The Filipina, whose name was withheld due to pending permission from the family, suffered head injuries after falling off the sixth floor of her employer’s apartment in the Holy City of Madinah in Saudi Arabia.

She was then pronounced dead shortly after being rushed to a hospital.

In a statement on Saturday, the DFA said that the Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah is already coordinating with local authorities to investigate the incident.

“Consul General Edgar Badajos said authorities are still investigating the death of the Filipina domestic helper which took place on Friday afternoon,” the DFA said.

“Consul General Badajos immediately dispatched a team from the Consulate General which will coordinate with authorities investigating the case,” the agency added. /jpv
