A South Korean national is set to be deported after Philippine authorities discovered that he escaped from his country to evade arrest and聽prosecution for alleged violent acts.

Kang Bum Su, 47, fell in the hands of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) fugitive search operatives after being served with an arrest warrant at his home in Villasol聽Subdivision, Angeles City, Pampanga last Dec. 5.

Kang hid in the Philippines for more than six years after the Korean trial court charged him for acts of violence, said BI聽intelligence officer Bobby Raquepo in a statement on Friday.

The fugitive never left his hideout in the Philippines since his arrival in the country on July 24, 2011, Raquepo said, citing the BI鈥檚 travel database.

BI Commissioner Jaime Morente said that the Korean court ordered Kang鈥檚 arrest on August 25, 2015 after prosecutors indicted him for violating the聽country鈥檚 violence law.

Morente said he already signed a deportation order against Kang after the Korean Embassy informed the bureau of Kang鈥檚 criminal record and the cancellation of his passport.

鈥淗e was already included in our blacklist to prevent him from re-entering the country,鈥 Morente said in a statement on Friday.

A team of Korean police officials is expected to arrive in Manila to escort Kang back to South Korea where he will be facing trial, Morente said. /jpv
