EU vows P49-M aid to help Marawi victims
The European Commission (EC), the implementing body of the European Union (EU), has approved to give the Philippines €850,000, equivalent to P49 million, worth of assistance to help about 50,000 victims of the Marawi City conflict.

“This grant from the EU will support the delivery of immediate life-saving assistance to those most in need, and contribute to increased protection of populations affected by the conflict,” said Pedro-Luis Rojo, Head of the East, South East Asia and Pacific Regional Office for the European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO).
The clashes that are happening for more than a month now between the government forces and terrorist group Maute in Marawi has already killed over 400 people and displaced more than 400,000 other people in the area.
The aid will primarily focus on providing food, clean water supply, health care, hygiene kits, sanitation facilities and household essentials to war evacuees.
