Duterte invites Putin to come to PH

MOSCOW—After he decided to cut short his Russia visit, President Rodrigo Duterte invited Russian President Vladimir Putin to come to the Philippines according to Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano.

Putin expressed his gratitude to Mr. Duterte for the invitation, which the latter extended during their meeting at the Kremlin Tuesday, said Cayetano.

He also said he hopes Putin would come to the country.

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev is expected in the Philippines in November for the Asean summit and related summits.

But there is no word if Putin will show up in Manila.

Mr. Duterte and Putin have met three times—In Peru, in China, and most recently in Moscow shortly before the Philippine President left for Manila to attend to the crisis in Marawi City./rga
