No Filipino hurt in St. Petersburg bombing

The Embassy of the Philippines in Russia on Tuesday said there were no Filipino casualties in the bombing in St. Petersburg.
“After consultations with relevant Russian authorities, our Honorary Consul General in St. Petersburg, and members of the Filipino community in St. Petersburg and an examination of the list of those who were injured, the Philippine Embassy wishes to inform that there are no Filipino victims,” the Embassy said in a statement.
“There are a number of unidentified injury victims and the names of those who lost their lives have not been officially released and we are monitoring the situation closely,” it added.
At least 14 people were killed and others injured dozens on Monday when an explosion ripped through a subway train in St. Petersburg. Thousands of miles to the east, authorities in the former Soviet republic of Kyrgyzstan identified one suspect as a Kyrgyz-born Russian citizen.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack, which came while President Vladimir Putin was visiting the city, Russia’s second biggest.

“It is also important to follow the instructions of Russian security authorities,” it added.
