MANILA, Philippines — A Philippine Airlines flight bound for Hong Kong had to turn and make an emergency landing at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Friday morning  because of a problem with its landing gear.

According to the Manila International Airport Authority media affairs division, PR 300 was in the air when its pilot contacted the NAIA control tower around 8 a.m., asking that it be allowed to make an emergency landing.

The airplane landed safely, MIAA said.
