PNP to ensure Kerwin鈥檚 safety 鈥� official

The Philippine National Police’s Anti-Illegal Drugs Group (PNP AIDG) has vowed to bring home safely alleged drug lord Kerwin Espinosa, who is detained in Abu Dhabi.
“I will personally bring him safely to the country,” said Senior Supt. Albert Ferro, AIDG chief.
Ferro sought to allay fears that Kerwin could suffer the same fate as his father, Albuera Mayor Rolando Espinosa, who died under suspicious circumstances during a police raid at the Baybay, Leyte, Sub-Jail last Saturday.
“I will personally bring him safely to the country,” said Senior Supt. Albert Ferro, AIDG chief.
The AIDG chief said Kerwin would be safely back in the Philippines “para magbigay ng linaw tungkol sa ipinagbabawal na gamot [at] transaksyon na may mga alleged na politician at matataas na ranggo sa kapulisan.”
Kerwin, the alleged biggest drug lord in Eastern Visayas, was arrested in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates, last October 17.

Article continues after this advertisementFerro said that once the Abu Dhabi police turned over Kerwin to the Philippine police, they would ask him to execute an affidavit naming his protectors in the drug trade.
He said Kerwin could give a statement at the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi.
“Hindi natin siya pwede basta kunan [ng statement] sa jail o sa ano mang lugar. Probably the only way we could get his confession ay sa embahada ng Pilipinas sa Abu Dhabi,” he said.
The official said they were considering asking the Leyte court, which issued the arrest warrant for Kerwin, to have him detained at the PNP Custodial Center inside Camp Crame to ensure his safety. CBB
