As part of its intensified campaign against smuggling, the Bureau of Customs is now training its sights on importers of counterfeit products.

Customs Commissioner Ruffy Biazon on Thursday filed with the Department of Justice separate smuggling cases against the owners and brokers of two companies which purportedly brought in fake batteries and audio speakers from China.

Charged with violating the Tariff and Customs Code of the Philippines and Intellectual Property Code were Sarae Trading owner Graciano Malangen Tumabat and his customs broker Joseph Dimasana Espiritu.

Also charged with the same offense were Multikarat Enterprises proprietor Joel Arzadon Macaraeg and his broker Carlos Dacaymat.
